Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Launches Health Technology Exploration Center to provide better health to individuals across the globe.
The Harvard Medical School has a good number of teaching schools among which figures the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). This medical centre is amongst the top three recipients of biomedical research funding from the National Institutes of Health.
Located in Boston, Massachusetts, it was formed from the partnership between the Beth Israel Hospital and the New England Deaconess Hospital both founded in the early 90’s. A very great number of medical projects are been tested and run in this famous medical centre. It has an annual research funding of about 200 USD.
Researchers from the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center have more than 850 active sponsored projects running and 200 clinical trials are being carried out.
The oldest clinical research laboratory in the United States called the Harvard-Thorndike General Clinical Research Center is based here at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for a good number of years since 1973.
The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center has recently launched an innovation research centre, named the Health Technology Exploration Center. The CEO of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dr Kevin Tabb said in a statement “Now is the time to think more expansively about how diverse technological tools can improve all aspects of healthcare – from clinical advances to communications and medical decision-making.”
He further added, “Our goal in creating this new centre is to build on Beth Israel Deaconess’ history of innovation to help make patient care more efficient, accessible and integrated.”
Dr John Halamka who is the CIO of the Beth Israel Deaconess system and a professor at Harvard Medical School said, “Patients today are accustomed to having a world of information at their fingertips. “He added, “The work of this new centre will help expand our ability to use technology to evaluate and share all types of data with both clinicians and patients to improve the care they receive and the delivery of that care.”
The centre will also create a base of knowledge and focused expertise that connects technology advances with clinical care and research to further accelerate innovation.”
Health technology medical centre (HTEC) will be in charge of studying emerging technologies, such as the Internet of Things and Blockchain, to bring a controlled and innovating transformation in healthcare delivery.
The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center hopes to build strong relationships with partners worldwide through telemedicine to boost the quality of healthcare available and move forward with new treatment options.
HTEC will also provide cloud services to support medical decision-making and mobile applications to give more access and enough training to patients who would be able to manage their own health at a distance all these thanks to the help of the ever-evolving technologies.
